By using our Site or providing your information to us, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Site or provide us with your information.
2. Who We Are
East Ocean is a Virginia Class A Contractor (license #2705085587) headquartered in Smithfield, Virginia. We provide residential remodeling, additions, kitchens and baths, roofing, cold-formed metal truss fabrication and installation, commercial construction support services, and related building trades throughout Hampton Roads and the broader East Coast.

We collect information in two ways: information you provide directly to us, and information collected automatically when you visit our Site.
3.1 Information You Provide Directly
When you fill out a form on our Site, contact us by phone or email, request a quote, or hire us for a project, we may collect:

- Your mailing or project address
- Details about your project (scope of work, property type, photos you choose to send, budget range, timeline, etc.)
- Payment information (collected and processed through our payment processor; see Section 5)
- Any other information you voluntarily provide in correspondence with us

5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate our business, in the following circumstances:
- Subcontractors and trade partners. When relevant to your project, we may share necessary project details (such as your address and scope of work) with vetted subcontractors, suppliers, or trade partners performing work on your behalf.
- Service providers. We share information with companies that help us operate our business, including our website host (Squarespace), email provider (Fastmail), phone system provider (3CX hosted on Digital Ocean), SMS provider (Sakari), accounting and payment processing software (QuickBooks Online), and similar vendors. These providers are contractually limited to using your information only to perform services for us.
- Legal and regulatory. We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, comply with a regulatory inquiry, enforce our agreements, or protect the safety of any person.
- Business transfers. If East Ocean is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar transaction, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified of any such change in ownership or control.
We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
6. SMS / Text Messaging Communications
When you opt in to receive text messages from East Ocean, we collect your mobile phone number and your express written consent to receive SMS messages from us.
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Any other mentions in this policy exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. If you wish to be removed from receiving future communications, you can opt out by texting STOP.
We use your mobile information solely to deliver the SMS messages you have consented to receive, including appointment confirmations, project status updates, scheduling notifications, quote follow-ups, and program-related communications. We may share your mobile information with our SMS service provider (Sakari) and underlying carrier networks strictly as necessary to deliver messages on our behalf; these providers are contractually prohibited from using your information for any other purpose.
You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. Once you opt out, your number will be removed from our active SMS list. 7. How Long We Keep Your Information
We retain your information for as long as needed to:
- Provide the services you have requested
- Maintain accurate business, accounting, and tax records
- Comply with our legal obligations (including contractor warranty periods, lien rights, tax retention requirements, and statute-of-limitations considerations)
- Resolve disputes and enforce agreements
When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it in accordance with our internal retention practices. Project records may be retained for an extended period due to construction warranty, insurance, and statute-of-repose considerations under Virginia law.

Our Site uses cookies and similar technologies to improve functionality, understand how visitors use the Site, and provide a better user experience. Cookies are small text files stored on your device.

11.1 Virginia Residents

East Ocean does not sell personal data and does not engage in targeted advertising or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. 11.2 California Residents
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, the right to delete it (subject to legal exceptions), and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. East Ocean does not sell personal information for monetary value.
11.3 Marketing and SMS Opt-Out
You can opt out of marketing emails by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any marketing email you receive from us, or by contacting us directly. You can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any text we send you (see Section 6).
12. Children's Privacy
Our Site and services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
13. Out-of-State and International Visitors
East Ocean is based in Virginia, and our services are primarily offered in Virginia and surrounding East Coast states.
